Girdle Bug (easy stonefly)

Simple and effective the Girdle bug is probably the easiest stonefly to tie, ever. When the water is high and off color fish two or pair one with a Black P. Stone to coax out the big boys during run off.

 

Hook: TMC 5263 #10

Thread: Black Uni 6/0

Weight: .20 lead wire

Tail, Legs, Antennae: Flex Floss or Round Rubber (Medium)

Body: Black Chenille (medium)

 

 

Wrap the hook shank with .20 lead wire

 

 

Wrap thread through lead then using your rubber legs ( or flex floss) tie in a tail

Strip the end of your chenille to make tying in it in easier

 

 

Tie in chenille right at the base of the tied in tail.

 

 

 

Move thread to the middle of the hook shank. Then tie in rubber legs. Next tie in rubber legs half way between hook eye and rubber legs.

 

 

Wrap chenille through and tie off head.

GO FISH!!!
